Manufacturing the Au

Justin Rajewski

Check out our latest video for how we manufacture the Au!

A lot goes into each board and in this video we show you just how much. The process starts with printing the solder paste on the the PCB using a stencil. The PCB then gets the components placed on it by our pick and place machine. With everything in place, it goes into the reflow oven for soldering and finally is depanelized, tested, washed, and packaged.

This is just the first of many videos we are planning to make and was largely done to get some experience for the process.

Justin Rajewski
Alchitry Labs 1.1.0 is here! This version now uses the open source library libusb instead of the proprietary drivers from FTDI. We wrote our own low level drivers in Java using another open source project, usb4java, that allows Alchitry Labs to now quickly detect your boards automatically.

Alchitry Labs 1.0.8 is Here!

Justin Rajewski

The latest version of Alchitry Labs is now available! Head over to its page to download it!

This version of the IDE fixes a ton of bugs and adds integration with Vivado's IP. You can now go to Project->Add Memory Controller to automatically add and build a DDR3 memory controller to your project.

There are new components in the Component Library to help use the controller as well. The MIG Wrapper is worth checking out if you are using Lucid. It wraps the interface into an easier package with structs.

We the IDE now supporting everything we need, we will start working on the DDR3 and GPU tutorials!

You can also make whatever IP you need by going to Project->Vivado IP Catalog. Note that this is only for the Alchitry Au.
